You might be learning about the Church’s history of slaveholding for the first time. You may be learning how the legacy of slavery shapes lives even today. Regardless, you have a place in this story.

DTRF is led by the Descendants of those enslaved by the Society of Jesus and sold by the Church in 1838 to fund religious institutions. Our work is a response to that history and a step toward repair.
