A Statement from the Descendants Truth & Reconciliation Foundation

This Supreme Court decision to strike down affirmative action in institutions of higher education will not only slow the dismantling of systemic racism in these institutions but will also undermine America’s pressing need to face and reconcile our legacy of slavery and its continuing threat to a stable democracy for all.

The Descendants Truth & Reconciliation Foundation is pressing forward in our work to strengthen pathways to education for Descendants of Jesuit and Catholic slaveholding. We are doing so by providing scholarships to Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Our goal is to be a first choice or alternative choice for Descendants who might be negatively impacted by this step backward.
